Women Foil Dartmouth

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The undefeated women's fencing team slashed past an inexperienced Dartmouth squad to a 10-6 victory Saturday at the IAB.

Jenny LaForet and captain Kathy Lowry, leading the Crimson attack, gave up one bout apiece to Dartmouth senior Judy Sudikoff, 4-0, whose quick parries caught the Crimson attacks.

Unagressive

"I did not fence very aggressively," Lowry said yesterday about her encounter with Sudikoff, "and I was not concentrating very hard. I wasn't responding to her parries with counter parries."

"Jenny was outstanding," Lowry added. "It looks like a good year for her." LaForet, trailing 1-4 behind Dartmouth's Susie Sudikoff, changed her game completely to win 5-4.

LaForet tried long, straight attacks, which found her opponent, but did not allow herself to be touched.

Other Bouts

Carolyn Powell won two bouts and substitutes Mary Holland and Susie Rivetz won one apiece to add to the Crimson victory.

The swordswomen take a break until Saturday, January 27, when they will take on two southern teams in a tri-meet at the IAB.
