The Eliot House Committee voted 20-1 in favor of a resolution supporting the proposed constitution for a college-wide student association last night, Douglas Tweedale '80, an Eliot House committee member who helped draft the resolution, said.
The resolution "strongly supports" the proposed constitution as "the best opportunity available for student representation in University affairs," Tweedale said.
"We plan to distribute the resolution to Eliot House students and to other House committees, urging students to vote in favor of the proposed constitution," Tweedale said.
The Leverett House Committee also voted to endorse the student assembly under the proposed constitution yesterday, Andrew P. Buchsbaum '79, chairman of the committee and a Crimson editor, said yesterday.
The committee "didn't vote to send out a letter asking students to support the proposed constitution, since we're running the House elections, and some House Committee members feel we shouldn't endorse the assembly before the student election," Buchsbaum said.
"We are sending out a letter urging students to vote on the proposed constitution, however," Buchsbaum added.
"Currier House Committee chairmen have drafted a similar supportive letter, which we're distributing to the House," Daniel M. Berman '79, member of the Currier House Committee, said yesterday.
