Conductor Fiedler Enters Hospital Due to Exhaustion

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

BOSTON--Boston Pops conductor Arthur Fiedler was admitted Wednesday to Tufts-New England Medical Center for tests after complaining of exhaustion.

The 83-year-old Fiedler cancelled an appearance at the Prudential Center, where he was scheduled to lead a sing-along during the lighting of the center's Christmas tree.

Fiedler, who has conducted the Pops since 1930, has been hospitalized several times already this year for tests.

A spokesman for the Pops, Peter Gelb, said that Fiedler is still planning to conduct the Pops on nationwide TV December 17, which will be his 84th birthday.
