It ain't the Village, but all things considered the Hub's not a bad place to catch some good jazz or blues. The Boston jazz scene generally revolves around Paul's Mall and the Jazz Workshop (both at 267-2051) on Boylston St. Paul's Mall features Muddy Waters and Dixie Dregs through Sunday, while the Jazz Workshop is hosting Pat Metheny (June 27-July 3), Gypsy (June 27-30) and Steve Kuhn (July 1-3).

But the jazz highlight of this weekend is 30 minutes out of town. Bossa nova master Stan Getz is bringing his tenor sax and his quartet to Sandy Berman's Jazz Revival in Beverly (54 Cabot St., 922-7515) through July 3. In addition to regular evening sets, the Getz quartet will play a special Sunday matinee from 4-7 p.m. Monday night traditional jazzmen Dave Whitney and Reggie Phillips take over.
