The Radcliffe tennis team finished its season with a fourth-place finish in the Ivy League-Seven Sisters tennis championships, played over the weekend.

The championships consisted of two tournaments, a singles tournament and a doubles tournement. The players were limited to playing in only one of the tournaments.

The doubles teams had much more success than the singles teams. Team captain Lissa Muscatine and Denise Thal, the fourth-seeded team, reached the semi-finals, where they were knocked off by the first-seeded team of Terry Carp and Lynn McLanahan of Princeton, 6-2, 7-5. Carp and McLanahan won the doubles tournament, downing Yale's Cynthia Hayden and Anne Seidler, 6-1, 6-7, 6-3.

The other doubles team, Andy Okamura and Katherine Fulton, lost their first round to a contingent from Brown, but entered the consolation tournament and won it, beating an entry from Dartmouth, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Sally Roberts, the racquetwomen's top entry in the singles tournament, reached the quarter-finals before losing to second seed Sue Graham of Yale, 6-2, 6-0. Graham was a finalist, but lost the championship to Princeton's Linda Rice, 6-0, 7-6.

Terry Clarke, the number one junior varsity player, played the other singles match for Radcliffe, but lost in the first round, 6-1, 6-3. In the consolation tournament, she advanced one round before being eliminated.

Princeton and Yale tied for first place, while Brown came in second, squeezing out Radcliffe by one point.

The racquetwomen finished their season with a 7-1 record. Their only loss was to Yale.
