House Committee Drafts Proposal For New Rights

By George K. Sweetnam

The South House Committee has drafted a proposal that would give residents more rights before disciplinary action like the January expulsion of six students from South House can occur.

The proposal, drafted last night, requires an "official warning from the master or senior advisor to freshmen" before taking disciplinary action and gives a student "the ovportunity to defend himself and to question or challenge the...action proposed."

Susie Waxenberg '78, South House Committee chairman, said yesterday the proposal was drafted because Rulan C. Pian '44, master of South House, had requested suggestions on the problem.

"I don't see how you could really oppose it. It all seems very rational," Waxenberg said.

Waxenberg said she did not know when Pian will decide on the proposal.
