Kevin Cash, author of the book, "Who the Hell is William Loeb?" told 40 students at Mather House last night that Loeb, publisher of The Manchester [N.H.] Union Leader, is "dedicated to the erosion of public character."
Cash said Loeb is a publisher "who tells lies in his newspaper" and abuses the freedom of the press.
The Harvard-Radcliffe Republican Club sponsored Cash's speech to "present the other perspective to Loeb," James M. Strock '77, president of the club, said yesterday. Loeb spoke to the Republican Club last year.
Loeb and New Hampshire Governor Meldrin Thompson are both suing Cash for libel, but Cash said yesterday he can "prove every fact" in his book.
Cash has worked as a reporter for The Manchester Union Leader and the now-defunct New York Herald Tribune.
