To the Editors of The Crimson:

You can imagine my surprise when I read Jim Cramer's article on the Phillies (234 Games Under .500," Crimson, October 8) and discovered that I got Johnny Klippstein for the last out of a no-hitter. That was an unforgettable night for me--that June 4, 1964 in Philadelphia--and one of the things I'll never forget is the sight of Bobby Wine striking out to give me my third no-hitter. Try hard as I might, I just couldn't remember facing Johnny that night. I remember missing low on a 3-2 count to Dick Allen to spoil the perfect game, and I remember getting Tony Taylor (on a strike-out) and Ruben Amaro (on a pop -up) for those first two outs in the ninth. So I took a look at the books, and sure enough, Klippy wasn't in the order that night!

Still, real fine piece of writing by Jim and maybe if he's lucky the Phils will go 234 games over .500 next year. Sincerely,   Phil "Sandy Koufax" Weiss
