A bill raising the legal drinking age in Massachusetts from 18 to 19 years was approved early this morning in a last minute measure taken by the Massachusetts legislature before adjourning its 1976 session. The bill was forwarded to Gov. Michael S. Dukakis and awaits his signature.
The legislature lowered the drinking age from 21 to 18 years only four years ago.
