Kennedy Institute Hit by Burglaries Three More Times

Four break-ins in the last month and a half have netted thieves over $3000 in office equipment from the Kennedy Institute of Politics building at 17 Mt. Auburn St.

Sgt. Richard W. Smith of the Harvard Police said yesterday that the police do not have any solid information as to the identities of the thieves.

Smith said he believed that at least the first three burglaries, which occurred on November 30, December 22, and December 29, were committed by the same two men. On those dates entry was gained into the Institute by forcing windows in the building.

Smith also said he believed that the fourth break-in, which occurred on January 12, was by someone who had possession of a key to the building. He said that in this most recent robbery, there was no sign of forced entry.

Smith based his theory on the latest break-in on the fact that the only tracks in the deep snow on the ground at that time led to the door of the building. He said the door had not been forced open.
