Hold-Up Hoax

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Harvard University Police were falsely informed that a female employee was being held at gun point in the stacks of Widener Library yesterday.

Eight officers quickly converged on the French Collection to find Nancy McBride unharmed, and no evidence of a gunman.

Louis E. Martin, director of Widener Library, said he was not surprised at news of the hoax. "Everything else has happened in Widener," he said.
