The Crimson lacrosse team failed to earn its stripes Saturday against the Tigers from Princeton, dropping a 12-7 home-turf contest for the ten's fifth loss against one victory.
Bruce Bruckermann was the only real standout for the Crimson. The midfielder picked up two goals and an assist while attackman Jim Quinn gathered two assists and one score to lead the Harvard offense.
The Crimson suffered in the nets early, as starting goalie Bruce Poliquin yielded six goals on six shots all in the first quarter. Leroy Thompson took over from there and earned 15 saves.
Harvard executed well but failed to dent the nets consistently. Pinpoint passing was not enough to surpass the efforts of the aggressive Bengal offense. Starting Princeton goalie Bill Cronin also turned in a fine performance.
Meanwhile, the freshman laxmen stretched their undefeated string by topping Tabor Academy by a 9-4 count. The Yardlings will face their toughest competition this Wednesday at home against Brown.
