The Winthrop House wrestling team displayed surprising strength in the upper weight classes, capturing four first places to dominate the intramural wrestling tournament held last Wednesday and Thursday at the Indoor Athletic Building.
Blayne Heckel at 145, Chris Millson at 167, William Hale at 177 and Dave Anderson at 191 all turned in stellar performances for Winthrop in winning their respective divisions.
Kirkland House was the only other team to take more than one first place, with Mark Buchbinder at 130 and All-Ivy football linebacker Bob Kristoff in the unlimited division garnering first-place points.
In the other weight classes, Steve Bailley of Lowell House won at 123; Mark Shanker of Eliot House pinned Mark Schildauer of Winthrop in a hard-fought contest at 137; Mike Clarnon of Leverett won at 152; and Dan White of Quincy House took the 160 class.
The Athletic Department will announce the overall team champion later this week.
