The freshman booters dropped a 3-1 match to Dartmouth Saturday, despite playing a second half of what assistant coach Bob Scalise called "our most aggressive soccer of the season."
Down 2-0 at the half, the Crimson switched from a short to a long passing game, taking quick shots on goal and containing Dartmouth in its own end. The Yardlings scored their only goal midway through the second period when forward Jim Wolf took a pass from linkman Brian O'Connor and dented the net from 20 yard's out.
The squad kept the pressure on the Big Green with numerous shots on goal, until Dartmouth scored its third tally in the closing minutes.
Sour Grapes
"This probably sounds like sour grapes, but the last goal they got was offside by about ten feet," said head coach Bruce Munro. "It took the starch out of us."
The loss left the team with a 1-4 record. After the Crimson's aggressive play in the second half, however, both Munro and Scalise said they are optimistic about the remaining games.
