Sal Bando drove in three runs while Vida Blue pitched a three-hitter yesterday afternoon in Fenway Park as the Oakland A's handed the Red Sox their second straight loss, 12-1.
Bando opened the game up in the first inning, homering off Luis Tiant, who had to retire after aggravating a groin injury in the third. Blue lasted eight innings before Orlando Pina replaced him and picked up an easy save in the ninth.
