No pong game is forever. Although players can position their paddles so that the blip should move between them permanently on a fixed path, the pong machine automatically breaks up steady-state rallies that extend beyond a given time period. Some machines turn themselves off in such a situation, while others are programmed to divert the blip from its path. Even pong has its limits.
