Angel Mangual, pinch hitting for Oakland A's pitcher Rollie Fingers, drilled a single up the middle to drive in the winning run in a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

The A's took a 1-0 lead in the fifth on a one-run homer by Gene Tenance. It was Tenance's third home run of the Series.

The Reds pulled haead 2-1 in the eighth on Bobby Tolan's two-run double.

In the ninth, however, with one out, pinch hitter Gonzolo Marquez. Gene Tenance and Don Mincher singled, to secure a 3-2 victory.
