North Conquers Top-Notch Foes In Long Swim

Harvard's least exciting sports event is over for yet another term. A few valiant swimmers and a lot of people who didn't even know they were participating in a race swam in the Radcliffe Spring Marathon last week.

"All I wanted to do was take a swim. When I got to the pool, people started hounding me to swim as much as I could and sign some stupid list." one Radcliffe woman said after being another unwitting participant in the marathon.

The North House swimmers, bitter after losing to South House in both the Fall Marathon and the House Swimming Meet, swam like they meant it to edge out the other two contenders. North totalled 3471 20-yard lengths, followed closely by South with 1575.

The big surprise of the meet was Currier House. In its first year of competition, the peril from the East finished a strong last with 1268 lengths.

Wolbach's John Burris, so loyal to North that he tried to pass for a female in the House meet held a few weeks ago, swam 500 lengths over the five days of the marathon, Burris's performance was equalled by sophomore Joan Fuchs of Holmes.
