Youth Attempts Weld Larceny

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A Boston youth was arrested and charged with larceny yesterday after he allegedly attempted to steal a camera from the room of a Weld Hall resident.

The 17-year-old youth was apprehended by Charles H. Wade '75 of Roxbury, owner of the camera. Wade said yesterday that he had left his room unlocked momentarily and found the young man in possession of the camera when he returned. The equipment was valued at between $100 and $120, Wade said.

Wade took the youth to Denis Kellman, a Weld Hall proctor, and university police were called.

The youth had been distributing promotional leaflets for Termpapers Unlimited, Inc., of Boston. The company could neither verify nor deny that the young man was in its employ. "It could be a front," a company representative said yesterday. She added that she did not know who was leafletting for the company.

Harvard University police reported that the youth had a previous record of arrests, adding that he had been warned earlier in the day to leave the Harvard area because of the nature of the material he was distributing. Harvard prohibits the use of termpaper writing services by students.
