Only 13 tickets for the finals of the Beanpot Hockey Tournament February 22 are left at the Harvard ticket office as people have been buying them up in anticipation of a matchup between B.U. and the Crimson.
B.U., rated second nationally in the latest weekly poll, meets Northeastern in the first round February 8, while Harvard plays Boston College. The Crimson was ranked sixth in the same poll.
Since Harvard is a clear favorite to beat B.U., students here have been reluctant to buy tickets for the opening round, and there are many good seats left.
Way Back
But the February 22 seats have gone quickly since the ticket office made them available Monday morning. Harvard, like the other three schools. received 1200 originally, and ticket manager Gordon was able to get another 200. The few seats left are in the second balcony.
B.U. has gone back to Boston Garden twice for extra tickets. and though there are still some left. they are very poorly located. "They're what I would refer to as garbage," said Richard Harding. B.U.'s ticket manager. "I wouldn't sit in them."
Harding intends to keep pestering the Garden for more "as long as people want to buy them. I'm interested in getting as many B.U. people in there as possible."
In the past the losing teams in the first rounds have returned tickets for the finals to the Garden. which allots some to both winners. Students shut out at Harvard can obtain tickets at Boston Garden now.
In the weekly poll, the first seven teams were Michigan Tech. B.U., Cornell. Denver, Clarkson, Harvard, and Wisconsin.
