At the Dunlop rally, a group of demonstrators moved to a University Hall staircase after hearing Dunlop's statement. Williamson claimed that they began "moving in a circle" and that several students kicked the door as they walked by it.
Minutes afterward, witnesses, whom Williamson would not name, pointed to "the two that did the damage," he added. The two will be charged under the "willful destruction of property" clause in the Resolution on Rights and Responsibilities. Williamson said.
Dale B. Fink '71 an SDS spokesman denied that the door was broken under those cireumstances. He said that the Radical Arts Troupe was performing on the staircase at the time, and that as the Troupe sang one song, "the door was being used as a drum."
"People didn't notice that the door was broken until after the song was over." he said.
