Fencers Seeking Victory Over Yale; Top Second Division Spot on Line

The varsity fencing team can end its season with an even record if it can get past a weak Yale team in New Haven this afternoon. The fencers hold a 6-7 record this season.

A victory over the Elis can also assure the Crimson of finishing alone on top of the Ivy League's second division. With its 1-2 Ivy record, the Harvard fencers are currently tied with Brown for fourth place. It is unlikely that Brown will win against Penn this afternoon.

With a line-up that beasts no strong performers. Yale has yet to win a match in the Ivies. It stands alone in last place, and could have no greater pleasure than getting the Crimson as a companion.

Coach Edo Marion will try to prevent the Elis from this e??stacy by starting two seniors that would like to win their last matches-Art Welsman and Paul Vitta. "I'm going to give them a chance to sing their last song against Yale. A last Hurrah, so to speak," coach Marion said yesterday.

Vitta whom coach Marion called a faithful team member and scholar-will join John Reitz and Mark Irvings at the epee. The epee team can, if it wants to, win more bouts than it lose. However, in recent weeks, both Reitz and Irvings have been erratic, and it is possible that they could be off this afternoon.

All-American Tom Keller, who has regained much of his timing after missing the first part of the season, will be joined by captain Cliff Ruderman and Weissman.

Last Two Outings

Keller should win his three bouts, and Ruderman has been impressive in his last two outings and could win a couple of bouts. Having missed the last few matches with a sprained back. Weissman may be a little slow against the Elis, but could, nevertheless, win at least one bout.

Larry Cetrulo, Rick Tolbert, and Emil Godfrey will start at the saber for the Crimson. None of the Elis are good enough to withstand Cetrulo, and they will have trouble with both Tolbert and Godfrey.

Along with having to worry about fencing. Cetrulo has some added responsibility, a baby girl called Lara. "Larry is carrying a heavy load with his fencing, his family, his studies and his work. He's really a good pulling horse," coach Marion said of Cetrulo yesterday.
