Trial Demonstrators Burn California Bank

Demonstrators in Santa Barbara. California, set fire to a bank as violence continued in the city for the second consecutive night. The disturbances followed the appearance of "Chicago 7" lawyer William Kunstler who spoke at the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Calling it "a symbol of American imperialism," the protestors twice set fire to the Bank of America building. Bank officials, anticipating trouble had previously locked money and important locuments in the fireproof vault where they escaped damage.

The demonstrators also set fire to a police car, broke windows, and raided real estate offices. Police. hampered by a wind that made tear gas ineffective, were unable to control the demonstrators.
