Racquet men to challenge Williams' 'good sports'

The seene would have horrified devotes of W?ce Lombardi or Hank Stram, who (??) the image of the high-powered, comp(??) coach with his meticulous char(??) films of the opponent's strength, and weaknesses.

Corey Wyna, Harvard's freshman squash coach, was flipping through a pile of (??) papers on a table in the coach's room in Hemenway Gym, trying to spear bits of information about an upcoming opponent.

"Let's see here. Navy-Trinity...ah here, the Williams varsity lost to Navy 5-4 in December...and Princeton, 7-2, in January..."

Just for the record, the varsity squash team will travel to Williamstown today in an attempt to extend its undefeated string of seven. It will be the first match for Harvard since Jan. 14, when they defeated Dartmouth, 9-0. Previous victims were Amherst (9-0), Cornell (9-0). Army (8-1). Navy (7-2), and M.I.T. (8-1)

Varsity coach Jack Barnaby, who had brushed by and ignored the littered table, described Williams as being "very strong at the top five positions. But remember that we're traveling 140 miles, jumping out of cars, and getting right out on the courts. The Harvard team will be taking this match very seriously. They better be thinking about Williams instead of Saturday, or they may be surprised."

On Saturday, at 2 p.m. in Hemenway, the squash squad will play Penn, which is also undefeated. The Quakers were in a similar position in their match with Williams last year, and got caught looking ahead to Harvard.

According to a sheet plucked from the Hemenway table, Williams lost to Princeton, 7-2. on Jan. 24, to even their mark at 3-3. Was this their last match? Coach Barnaby was asked.

"I don't know. I don't know anything about Williams' record. I don't keep track of any of the teams we play. I don't keep track of anything except what my boys are doing. That's just my method. Other coaches are different."

Like the guy at Princeton, who wasn't satisfied with his win over the Ephmen, but had to declare to all concerned, "The Williams team impressed me as being fine gentlemen and good sports."
