The Harvard Undergraduate Council last night passed a resolution supporting Harvard's using Cambridge police to arrest King Collins and members of his group during a Soc Rel 153 lecture a week ago.
"The HUC is strongly opposed to the disruption of our classes by outside personnel," the resolution said "We therefore strongly support the actions and decisions of the Deans and University officials in respect to the incident of March 11."
General agreement on principle did not prevent a raucous hour-long debate over revision of the resolution, originally written and released by John D. Hanify '71, HUC president, last week.
The last sentence caused the greatest furor because opponents felt it could be taken out of context. "Tomorrow Harvard SDS could disrupt a class, and people could say the HUC was in favor of bringing gin police against students,' Eli M. Noam '70 said. The sentence was retained by a vote of 9-7.
In other action, HUC approved full voting membership for two faculty members, on the "counter-Fainsod" committee, studying student participation in University decision-making.
