Joan King, resident tutor of South House at Radcliffe, will replace Barbara M. Solomon as dean of East House while Mrs. Solomon takes a year's leave of absence, beginning July 1.

Miss King, a senior resident in Mabel Daniels Hall and a teaching fellow in French, will become acting associate dean. She was acting dean of South House in 1967, acting dean of Residence in 1960, and dean of Women at the Harvard Summer School in 1964 and 1965.

Mrs. Solomon is also a lecturer in History and Literature, and has written extensively for the John Harvard Library of the Harvard University Press.

Her new edition of Timothy Dwight's Travel in New England and New York is scheduled for publication next year.
