Baylor and West Lift Lakers Over Celtics To Even Title Series

The Los Angeles Lakers, led by Jerry West and Elgin Baylor, overpowered the Boston Celtics 123-113 to even the best of seven series for the National Basketball Association Champioinship, 1-1.

The game was tied fifteen times in the first half which ended in a 54-54 deadlock. Early in the second half, the Lakers went ahead to stay when Archie Clark hit two freethrows and Tom Hawkins tipped in a rebound.

West and Baylor sparked the L.A. attack with 35 and 23 points respectively. Boston ace John Havlicek scored 24 before the home crowd to lead the Celtics.

The third game of the series will be played Friday in Los Angeles.
