Second Half Rally Fails; Tigers Whip Five, 84-72

Harvard's hapless hoopsters played Princeton again last night. You know who won. But Coach Floyd Wilson's boys partly redeemed themselves, showing flashes of brilliance and losing respectably, 84-72.

For five minutes of the second half, Harvard staged an eye-opening comeback and actually threatened to go ahead.

Princeton led 43-32 at the start of the second half, after shooting 67 per cent from the field in the first half to Harvard's 30. The Crimson charged back to within two points of the Tigers, at 48-46 scoring 14 points to Princeton's five.

But the co-League leaders squelched Harvard's threat, scoring 10 of the next 12 points, and went ahead 58-48 with half the period gone.

Princeton stretched its lead to 80-61 and then sent in the reserves. Harvard whittled away unsuccessfully at the lead in the closing minutes.

The statistics told the story of Harvard's ninth Ivy League loss. Princeton poured in 61 per cent of its shots from the field. Harvard connected with only 39 per cent.

Chris Gallagher was high point man for Harvard with 20 points. Bob Kanuth, Bob Johnson, and Jeff Grate each had 10.
