Fans To Hold Big Rally for Team

Football fans at Harvard this weekend will have their first opportunity since 1962 to participate in a pre-game Crimson team rally.

The rally, scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday on the steps of Widener Library, will be the biggest gathering of fans in the last decade, according to James M. Lombard '61, assistant secretary of the Alumni and one of three organizers of the rally.

Cheerleaders from Harvard and Radcliffe will lead the anticipated screaming throng of more than 1000 people who will march to the Yard to the age-old fighting tunes of the Harvard Band.

Former Harvard halfback great, Bobby Leo, one of the coordinators of the rally, said the band will start its journey to Widener from Dillon Field House at the end of the varsity practice and wend its way through the Houses picking up support at every nook and crannie where potential fans might be huddled.

When the band gets to Widener, the team will be presented to the fans after speeches from Coach Yovicsin and Crimson captain Vic Gatto.
