Strong Yale Seeks to Preserve Record Against Upset-Minded Green Today

Yale's defending Ivy League football champs battle for their 14th straight win against Dartmouth in New Haven today.

If Harvard can handle Pennsylvania at the Stadium today and Dartmouth pulls an upset in the televised game at Yale, the Crimson would become sole possessor of the Ivy lead.

Dartmouth will be seeking to avenge a painful 56-15 thrashing by the Elis a year ago and to bounce back from the 22-7 loss to Harvard last week.

Career High

Yale quarterback Brian Dowling threw a career-high three touchdown passes last week--leading his team to a 25-13 victory over Cornell--and needs only five more this year to surpass the Yale record of 15 TD passes in a year. Three Yale receivers have each caught three touch-down passes, and end Nick Davidson four.

Yale also boasts a stingy defense which has yielded only 94 yards a game rushing and 126 passing.

Dartmouth, suffering from the loss of injured number one rusher and scorer Bob Mlakar, will probably start sopho-more Jim Chasey at quarterback. Coach Bob Blackman has had only three losing seasons in 27 years of coaching but concedes it will take a miracle to avoid one this year.
