Two Harvard lightweight crews rowed to victory yesterday in the fourth annual Head of the Charles Regatta.
The Harvard boat stroked by sophomore Dave Harmon won the "light-weight eight-oared shells" event in the time of 17:57.8, eleven seconds ahead of runner-up Princeton. In the "light-weight fours with coxswain," the Harvard boat stroked by Joe Bracewell '69 captured first by a four second margin.
Two of Nine
The two winners were among nine crews entered by Harvard, which, as a group, did not perform strongly. Another Crimson lightweight four captured third place in "junior fours with coxswain" event.
Three Harvard heavyweight fours finished sixth, seventh, and tenth in the "senior fours with coxswain" competition, won by a Yale crew.
Paul Wilson, a Harvard alumnus rowing for the Vesper Boat Club, was the only record-breaker as he lowered the Senior Single Sculls mark 24 seconds to 19:50.8.
