It's been a disappointing week for Coach Bruce Munro's lacrosse team.

The rain and mud cut into practice sessions and postponed Wednesday's game with Holy Cross, which would have been a moral booster after Saturday's humiliating loss to Penn.

Then senior attackman Keith Hutchinson hurt his foot and may miss a game. In addition, midfielder Terry Vogt sprained his ankle yesterday and will be out for at least a week.

And if all this wasn't enough, the stickmen have to play a Cornell team tomorrow that hasn't lost in 18 games and is the defending Ivy League champion.

The Big Red have gone through four foes so far this season. Opening their Ivy season last weekend with a 9-4 shellacking of Yale. Cornell did have a pretty rough time with Cortland State College for the first half before pulling out to a 12-7 win.

The big men for the Big Red have been attackmen Tom Quaranto and Peter Pierce, the two top scorers, and goalie Butch Hilliard, a second-team all-Ivy choice last year.

Munro has shifted midfields during the past week, beefing up the first line with Al Timberlake replacing Tom Nicosia. Timberlake will play alongside Marty Cain and Jim Kilkowski, while Charley Ames and Tom Engel will be on the second line with Nicosia.

It should be a long afternoon for the Crimson, who will once again be out to snap their Ivy League losing streak. But most experts think that Cornell isn't as strong as last year, when it narrowly edged Harvard, 7-5.
