Smoke Does Not Lead To Fire in Mem Hall

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A fire alarm called in when the smell of smoke was detected in the Memorial Hall basement at 5:15 p.m. yesterday led firemen to discover no fire--only smoke.

An unidentified woman sounded the alarm when she detected the smell of smoke in the hallway of the Laboratory for Computer Graphics.

Firemen saw smoke coming out of the air conditioning ducts, but they found no fire. The deputy fire chief considered the situation safe and withdrew his trucks and men from the building by 5:45 p.m.
