Johnson Cancels Trip To Boston In Order To Rest for Surgery

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

President Johnson last night cancelled his campaign trip to Boston scheduled for today, in order to prepare for abdominal and throat surgery.

Johnson had planned to speak at a political rally in Post Office Square to lend support to the state Democratic ticket in the final days of the campaign.

The President announced that he is leaving Washington today, under doctor's orders, for a period of rest at the LBJ ranch in Texas. He will undergo surgery within the next 15 to 18 days.

The abdominal surgery is not of an emergency nature doctors said. It will repair a defect in the incision made last year during Johnson's gall bladder operation.
