Crimson Leading NCAA Colleges In Total Offense

Harvard has been jet-propelled into the class of Notre Dame, U.C.L.A., and Alabama in the latest NCAA national statistics.

In the latest rankings, the Crimson now leads the nation in total offense with a 442.3 average (Notre Dame second with 428.7), rushing offense with 346 yards, and scoring with 36.3 points per game (U.C.L.A. second at 34.8)

In addition, Harvard is sixth in total defense at 181 yards per game (So. Miss. leads at 86.5), tenth in pass defense at 82, and fourth in scoring defense at 4.7 (another Crimson--the Crimson Tide of Alabama--leads with a 2.3 points average).

Of course, the bubble will probably burst against Cornell this Saturday, when the Crimson will worry a lot more about just winning than its statistics. The Big Red has its own national leader, halfback Pete Larson who is the nation's fifth leading rusher with 436 yards in three games.

Then again, maybe Harvard will hang on. After all, Penn scored 28 points off Cornell last Saturday. Only trouble was Cornell scored 45.
