Henry N. Lamar, who has coached Harvard teams since 1931, was awarded a varsity "H" Tuesday night at the Athletics Department's annual dinner for the University Administration.
Lamar, who presently coaches the freshman football team, graduated from the University of Virginia and came to Harvard as varsity boxing coach in 1931.
He was varsity football coach from 1943-44, and his teams compiled a 7-2-1 record. He also coached the JV football team from 1937-42.
Lamar was freshman football coach from 1946-50, and has held the post again since 1957.
