Cambridge police arrested three Boston area men early yesterday morning on charges of "being abroad at night and carrying burglar tools," near the Harvard Cooperative Society laundry building on Bow St.
Officer John A. Breen of the University police noticed one of the three climbing a fire escape to the building's roof and notified City police. Breen reported seeing the man descend and join two others in a parked car.
When Cambridge police arrested the trio, they found a vending machine, coin box, several screw drivers and a glove in the car, Breen reported.
City police said that the three men, who were arraigned yesterday in, East Cambridge District Court, denied having been on the fire escape.
