Taubman Will Serve on CEA Staff

The President's Council of Economic Advisors last week appointed Paul J. Taubman, assistant professor of Economics, to serve on its staff next year.

Beginning in September, Taubman will work with the Council in the field of macroeconomics. He plans to set up a mathematical model for forecasting the movement of the economy as a whole.

The model will enable Taubman to predict the effects of proposed government policies and to suggset alternative ones He will also write speeches for the Council.

John J. Arena, visiting lecturer on Political Economy last fall, will also serve on the six-member CEA staff next year. Now with the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston, Arena will work for the Council in the field of monetary policy.

Currently, Otto Eckstein, professor of Economics, is one of three members of the CEA. Lester D. Taylor, assistant professor of Economics, and Lester C. Thurow, who will be an instructor in Economics next year, are now on the Council's staff.
