We of the Harvard-Radcliffe May 2nd Committee, finding ourselves in the embarrassing position of having on the one hand been thoroughly supported by the CRIMSON editorial of March 9 in our protest against the war that our Christian government is waging against the Pagan Vietnamese people, but having on the other hand been brutally assaulted on the grounds of our contention in our "frankest moments, that Chinese imperialism is better for the East than American imperialism," are forced to call on you to end this minute your treacherous, oriental, imperialist policies. Your scheming, unprovoked stand "behind this whole movement to sweep the West off the peninsula," the peaceloving West which has never so much as megatonned a single Chinese city, and which has even borne the exorbitantly expensive burden of dominating South Vietnam for the last 11 years when this job really belonged to China, cannot be tolerated by May 2nd any longer. Such ungraciousness stretches our 'tenderminded" toleration to its limits.

Your aggressive determination to wipe out the popular democratic government of the sovereign nation of Taiwan before it has a chance to exercise its legitimate right of annexing the mainland, compounded by your deceitful and transparent agreement with that Great Human tarian, the Generalissimo, that the mainland and the island are indeed one country, has proved you unworthy of sitting in that Great Hall of Truth, the Security Council of the UN, where the Great "Toughminded" Liberal Mr. Stevenson has to put up with the constant lies and distortions of your partner in crime, the Soviet Union, who has always backed you up in everything you have ever said and done.

Your incredible achievement in brainwashing the U.S. Intelligence Community into believing and announcing that In 1958 you reduced that portion of your national budget devoted to defense 26.8% to 8.3% almost demands respect. At the same you claimed that the reason you demoted the military Chief of Staff, Su Yu, after debate in the Party Council, for his advocating the modernization of the Chinese army, was in order to devote your resources to industrial development and the "liberation" of the Chinese people from centuries of oppressive poverty and underdevelopment; but the intellectuals of America know that all this masterful deceit was just to humiliate the Moral Leader of the Free World, which devotes 50% of its national budget to arms. Your unparalled cruelty in depriving each one of your 700,000,000 people of $1 worth of groceries over a period of years in order to develop an aggressive nuclear weapon will not yield you the returns you expected since our Defense Department has an invincible defense arsenal capable of defensively disintegrating China and all its people hundreds of times over. Your empty propagandistic call for a world disarmament conference while you build your offensive bombs to destroy the peaceloving United States, who would never be the first to use nuclear weapons against yellow people again, is the ultimate in duplicity.

Your policy of promoting revolutions of ungraceful peasants and workers against their benevolent fascist dictators is only possible through the fortuitous absence of Chinese investments in these countries, as the CRIMSON editorial so devastatingly points out, and your taking advantage of the equally fortuitous presence of the investments of our beneficent American capitalists in these countries, in the absence of which we would be free to promote our own revolutions against these dictators and could then offer large amounts of foreign aid in exchange for strict neutrality vis a vis the Great Red empires, can only be described as a flagrant offense to the American sense of fair play. Your attempt at covering up your total domination of Hanoi's foreign policy by ordering her to mold this policy around the Soviet Union's call for peaceful co-existence fools no one, and you cannot imagine how foolish you look in this attempt.

Your successful, and as yet unexplained, infiltration of the Rand Corporation in the person of your secret agent Allen S. Whiting, who wrote China Crosses the Yalu exonerating China from the charge of aggression in the Korean police action, is further proof that you will stop at nothing to hide your true nature. And your even more clever takeover of the New York Times and the Herald Tribune for the purposes of announcing to the world that it was India and not China who started the border war, compounded by your diabolical plot of calling unilaterally for a cease-fire, withdrawing your troops, and returning the weapons of the peaceloving followers of Gandhi, may have fooled the Chinese people, but the American people weren't fooled for a minute. Your fiendish stunt of peacefully settling your borders with every other country to the south, including giving Burma a net 25,000 square miles of territory that was previously China's was merely a further attempt to make Gandhi's children appear the villains.

At this very moment your front group in America, the Student Nonviolent Chinese Communists, are carrying out your orders to blackjack the Johnson Administration into sending government troops into the sovereign state of Alabama, whose courageous struggle for independence in the last century was so brutally crushed by your own Abe Lin-coln, and which under the brave leadership of the Wallace Lama is now engaged in a life and death struggle to preserve its quaint indigenous way of life from utter destruction at the hands of your agents, the Northern aggressors. All this to cover up your ruthless invasion of that all but universally acknowledged part of China known as Tibet; but the Johnson Administration will not be so easily tricked.

The Home of the Brave, and the Land of the Free, of the New Deal, of the Fair Deal, of the New Frontier, and of the Great Society can have no respect for the inscrutable, childish, feebleminded, sloganmongering land of the Great Leap Forward and of the Hundred Flowers, with its already ancient culture.

In conclusion, if China does not cease its aggression and imperialism, May 2nd will have no choice but to close ranks behind our Leader and call not only for the total destruction of North Vietnam, but of China and indeed all of Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and Canada, after leafleting, of course.
