Bruce Fowler, Dinny Adams, and Tom Gilmore have been elected as captains of the swimming, squash, and wrestling teams for the 1965-66 season.
Fowler, one of the top breaststrokers in the East, was the only Crimson swimmer to win an intercollegiate championship at last year's Easterns. As a member of a very strong freshman team, Fowler set pool and University records in the 100-meter breaststroke with a 1:03.7 clocking.
Fowler finished second in this year's Easterns at Yale with a 1:02.3, over a second slower than the 1:02.1 University record time which won the event the previous year.
Adams, a player regarded by Coach Jack Barnsby as having "no real weaknesses," has lost only one match in his two years on the varsity. As a freshman, Adams upset Yale's John West, the National Junior, 3-0, and was the only sophomore to break into the Crimson's powerful line-up.
Waxing poetic, Barnsby once said, "Dinny plays like a professional. With every stroke he carves another master-piece."
This year, Adams has competed in the middle of the squash ladder, at positions three, four, and five.
Gilmore, a junior from Cambridge, compiled a 4-4 record this year, alternating between 130 and 137 pounds. Three of his four losses, however, were by two points or less.
A hard rider with a diverse arsenal of holds, Gilmore often had to wrestle the toughest man on the opposing team. In three of Harvard's last four matches, he met the other team's captain.
Gilmore won three of his four matches against Ivy League opponents, helping Harvard to key victories.
