For the fourth successive year Harvard has been awarded the largest number of Woodrow Wilson Fellowships given to any school. 49 Harvard and 16 Radcliffe seniors are among the 1395 winners that were chosen from over 11,000 competitors.
The awards provide tuition, extra fees, and $1,800 for living expenses at any U.S. graduate school except the recipient's undergraduate college. The purpose of the fellowships is to acquaint undergraduates with the critical need for teachers, according to Sir Hugh Taylor, president of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation.
The Harvard seniors are: Richard M. Blau, Jacob R. Brackman, Peter M. Briggs, Gregory Brumfield, James C. Burrows, James T. Campen, Eric G. Chipman, John D. Fay, Alan Gilbert, Lenn E. Goodman, Stephen H. Goodwin, Robert J. Gorden, Anthony Graham-White, James E. Haber, Harry T. Hunt, David J. Israel, Richard Jacobson, Dewitt H. John Jr., David S. Kershaw, James R. King, Elliot M. Klein, David M. Kotz, Robert M. Leonhardt, and James I. Lepowsky.
Also, Michael A. Lerner, Lawrence Lipson, Harrison G. Lowry, John P. Lynch, Donald G. Marshall, Jeffrey S. Mehlman, Theodore H. Moran, Miles Morgan, Lester R. Morss, Martin A. Nurmi, Roger D.
