The Crimson trackmen rolled to their third victory in as many tries Saturday with a 74-35 pasting of Boston College in Briggs Cage.
Highlighting the win were outstanding individual performances by Aggrey Awori, Captain Art Croasdale, and sophomore high jumper Chuck Njoku. Awori won the broad jump, hurdles, and dash to stretch his season victory total to nine.
Croasdale won the shot put at 53 ft., 3 in. and captured the weight throw with a hofty toss of 57 ft., 7 in. Croasdale nicked the magic 60-ft. mark on one of his weight attempts but fouled in the process.
Njoku made himself the favorite of the spectators with a 6 ft., 6 in. high jump, his best in a Harvard uniform. With number one high jumper Chris Pardee not participating because of an ankle sprain, Njoku was carrying the Harvard banner all alone against B.C.'s Dick Clarke.
At one point in the competition Njoku trailed Clarke on misses, but he sewed up the win on his second attempt at 6 ft., 6 in.
Other winners for Harvard were Ken Winters in the pole vault (11 ft., 6 in.), Jim Smith in the mile (4:24), and Walt Hewlett in the two-mile (9:39). Keith Chiappa lost both the 600 and the 1000 by 0:01 to B.C.'s Bob Gilvey and Paul Delaney respectively.
