Although a bit rattled by the unexpected good weather, the varsity lacrosse team edged Holy Cross, 7-4, on an overtime goal by Tiak Gunnoe yesterday.
Despite as early threat by the Crimson to turn the game into a rout, the Crusaders fought back from a 3-0 deficit in the first half to finally tie the score with five minutes of regulation time remaining.
Neither team could mount as effective scoring offense in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, but Holy Cross controlled the game from the very beginning of the overtime period. The Harvard defense held, however, until Gunnoe scooped the ball up in front of the Crusader nets and backhanded it in from 20 feet out.
Lou Williams and Dick Anies both contributed two goals apiece to the Harvard effort. Larry Palmer and Dexter Newton each scored a goal for the Crimson.
