Rain, Mud Stop Track, Lacrosse

It rained harder than you thought it did Tuesday.

For the first time in anyone's memory, the grounds crew was unable to whip the Stadium track into shape for a track meet. As a result, the Harvard-Brown confrontation was canceled completely--the Bruins have three engagements during each of the next two weeks and simply can't reschedule Harvard.

And for the second time in coach Bruce Munro's tenure at Harvard, a Crimson lacrosse match had to be called. This cancellation wasn't permanent, however; the varsity will face off against Holy Cross today at 3:30 p.m.

The varsity tennis team also was rained out of its scheduled game with Brown--the match has been rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon. If the Soldiers Field courts ever rise above the floods which cover them, the varsity is supposed to take on Columbia Saturday.
