Thugs Beat Two In Square Area

Two men, at least one a Harvard student, were attacked and beaten in unrelated incidents in Cambridge at about 11:30 p.m. last night.

William D. Hart '64 was reportedly jumped and beaten by a young man in a leather jacket in front of the Adams House entrance on Plympton St.

In the other incident as unidentified youth was beaten by two or three boys in the vicinity of Central Square. There was apparently no robbery involved in either attack.

Neither Cambridge nor University police would comment on either incident. Police were observed holding three boys at 1:45 p.m. in the Leverett House superintendent's office. One of the boys, inter released, said they had been questioned about the Central Square beating.

There were unconfirmed reports of another assault on a Harvard student near Weeks Bridge, the location of several muggings in recent months.
