Samborski New Athletic Director

Adolph W. Samborski '25 has been appointed Harvard's Director of Athletics.

The founder of the college's Intramural sports program, Samborski has served as Acting Director of Athletics since Thomas D. Bolles resigned a year ago, and he has been associated with Harvard's athletic program for 39 years, since his undergraduate days when he lettered in basketball and baseball. He believes that his chief problems as athletic director will involve finding adequate sport facilities, especially during the winter.

"Right now the IAB is almost bursting from the intramural program" Samborski said." "We can't play as much basketball as we'd like, and when the tenth House is built, the problem will be just that much worse." "The graduate students don't have much room at all; we'll have to do something about that too some time," he added.

If Samborski is going to solve the space problem, he will have to do it quickly. In 1971 he will be 65 years old, the mandatory retirement age for University administrators.
