Poland to File Appeal Against Grad Student

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A Polish prosecutor Wednesday revealed the state's plans to seek a stiffer penalty against Andrew Field, a Harvard graduate student, then the suspended eight month sentence be received for allegedly assaulting a Polish border guard.

Edward J. Liberda, prosecutor at Lublin in Eastern Poland, said that an appeal will be filed to the Polish Supreme Court as soon as prosecutors receive an official copy of the Feb. 15 verdict against Field.

Regardless of its outcome the appeal will certainly further prolong the enforced visit in Poland of the 26-year-old Cambridge resident. Field has already spent five weeks in Poland.
