In a dazzling demonstration of physical prowess, several dozen 'Cliffies left the library long enough on Saturday afternoon to make a remarkable showing in the annual Sportsday festivities held at Wellesley College.

Other institutions of higher learning participating in the tournament included Bouve, Bradford Junior College, Brandeis, Mount Holyoke, Sargent, and Wellesley.

Out for blood, the Radcliffe Fencing Team easily outscored all others with Sue Billings, Lynn Selker, and Maddy Lee finishing first, third, and fourth respectively.

The local girls sank to second in the swimming events behind muscular Sargent. Margaret Earle took a second in the back stroke for the 'Cliffe while Lee Eyler, a freshman, earned a third in the diving competition.

One of the best performances of the day was turned in by Jane Mansfield who took a first in the individual medley. Miss Mansfield also made a stellar showing in the breast stroke where she finished second. Radcliffe finished second in team standings.
