Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
The Harvard-Radcliffe Socialist Club is considering the endowment of an annual lecture in honor of William E. B. DuBois '90, famous historian and the first Negro to receive a Ph.D. from the University. DuBois died a Ghanaian citizen last Aug. 27 in Accra, at the age of 95.
The club will hold a memorial meeting for DuBois tonight in Agassiz Theatre during which it may announce the beginning of a fund-raising campaign for the lecture.
A minimum of $5000 will have to be raised in order to receive official University sanction, since Harvard refuses to maintain an endowed lecture for any smaller fund. Once this sum is pledged, the lecture would still require approval by the Corporation.
Executive officers of the club have been considering the idea of the lecture since September when they originally planned tonight's memorial meeting. They recently received a telegram from the Ghanaian ambassador to the United States informing them of the project's endorsement by Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's prime minister.
Henry S. Kahn '64, president of the Harvard-Radcliffe Socialist Club, indicated last night that the lecture may be sponsored by a group of individuals representing a larger segment of the University than the Socialist Club alone.
