BALTIMORE, Oct 16--The Boston Celtics opened defense of their National Basketball Association championship without Bob Cousy and easily whipped the Baltimore Bullets 109-95 tonight.
The Bullets, back in the NBA after a nine-year absence, led 25-23 after the first period. But the Celtics, sparked by newly acquired Willie Naulls, play-maker Sam Jones and defensive star Bill Russell pulled away early in the second quarter and were never headed.
